The Havanese is a small sturdy dog that is a member of the Toy Group (FCI Group 9). The breed is a member of the Bichon Family and has a very interesting history. For information on the history of the breed, please click here.
The Havanese is an outgoing, robust little dog, that loves to play and spend time with it's owners. It is not a breed that does well being left alone for extended periods of time, so if you are considering purchasing a Havanese as a member of your family, please bear this in mind. In fact, due to it's fondness of spending time with human's, the Havanese has earned the nickname of a ''velcro dog''.
Always the clown, the Havanese will burn off lots of energy playing and loves nothing more than to ''run like hell'' outside. However the Havanese is very much a house dog, and is not suitable to living outside in a kennel. In terms of exercise, in order to maintain good health, the Havanese should be taken for a walk regularly (about three times a week).
Renowned for it's beautiful, silky coat, the Havanese does require a good deal of grooming. We recommend the Havanese is brushed daily, and washed at least once a week. For more information on grooming, please click here.
